Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

With the arrival of March we know February's figures will be very low, the plate change has this effect and only after we get March's numbers and a three month average do we get a full idea of how the year is going to run for the brands, as it is, we can see some numbers that are a surprise.

Whether or not the brake issues that befell Suzuki and the Celerio model, caused the rather large drop in sales we won't know, but after a great 2014 and growth in January, it seems like it may well have contributed to the downturn, MG is back into growth after a drop in Jan', advertising has helped, but the lack of any new metal is going to hurt them this year, they won't even confirm when the new MG6 is coming, and when was the last time a manufacturer did not drop these hints.

Vauxhall is still growing, as is Renault, Volkswagen and Audi, but Skoda is another surprise decline, especially with the new Fabia, Octavia and soon to be released Superb, Jaguar is as usual dropping sales like flies, and until the new XE and F-Pace comes on stream, they will continue to go backwards, thankfully then Land Rover is doing it's best to keep the combined numbers going the right way (ish)

The big news of the week has to be the confirmation from Chrysler that they are leaving the UK market as of 2017, it really is not a surprise, but any brand that ups sticks and goes is not a nice thing, the sales are not significant, so no one brand will be a winner from its leaving, FIAT, on the other hand is rumoured to be releasing a 'number' of all new models, from a coupe/roadster, to an all new saloon, hatch and estate, apparently made in Turkey.

The Luxury brands like Bentley and Aston are struggling, with Bentley doing particularly poorly in the UK so far this year, but it is great news to see Lotus clawing back sales, even if we are talking single figures, Alfa, please do something with Alfa, we are fully aware that an $18 billion investment is taking place, and we will be getting a complete range of cars, sports cars, SUV, and more, but for now, the MiTo and Giulietta will soldier on until all these new cars arrive on our shores.

The Smart brand is an odd one, they have two all new cars compared to one yet they still managed to sell less cars in February than a year earlier, how is that possible, two all new cars against an old model, and the old model wins, hopefully the public may see sense and go back to Smart in the coming months.

So with a UK market up another 12% and growth in every month for three consecutive years, the numbers look like they will carry on growing for some time yet.
